Why should I give?

Your gift is important and is greatly appreciated. The $24.00 member registration fee that our youth pay to participate in the program is sent from the council directly to the National office for registration. Currently, the council raises over 50% of the operating budget from businesses, investments, product sale, and through grants.

Where does the money go?

All money given through the online donation campaign goes directly to unit support. Some of the things that the Council does to assist the units are:

  • Maintaining the Volunteer Service Center:
    The Daniel Webster Council operates a service center where countless questions about membership, fundraising policies, camp, training and advancements are answered. Training materials, electronic newsletters,  the council website, advancements, training records, and other resources are all produced or maintained out of this facility.

  • Running and maintaining four camps:
    The Daniel Webster Council owns, operates and maintains 130 buildings, over 3500 acres of land and 12 miles of road. The annual maintenance cost is over $300,000.

  • The Daniel Webster Council employs 30 full time staff: District professionals serve as your local resource for Scouting information. They recruit and train volunteers, recruit new youth members, maintain relationships with chartered partners and local businesses, and raise money to support our program. Additionally, support staff at the council service center in Manchester answer questions, maintain records, and handle other administrative duties. 

  • Liability insurance for all chartered organizations and sickness and accident insurance for all Scouts and leaders.

  • Training workshops for adult volunteers and youth leaders.
