Join us in the darkness… Bow Troop 75 hosts Wannalancit District’s NIGHT TIME DOOMSDAY CAMPOREE! October 13-14th, 2012 THIS MAY BE THE LAST CAMPOREE YOU EVER GO TO! THIS MAY BE THE LAST PATCH YOU EVER WEAR! DOOMSDAY Details To Register Online Click Here To Download These Details Click Here Based on research completed by the brilliant scout scientists of Troop 75, the Mayan’s calculations were slightly off. Our prediction is that the end of the world is imminent, and in fact the Sun will wink out of existence and we will be in complete darkness at exactly 9:00pm on Saturday, October 13th 2012. Join us as we sing Kumbaya and celebrate the end of the world together in our great Brotherhood of Scouting. We’ll try to time it just right, so we are singing Scout Vespers when the big moment happens. Watch the end of the world with us on October 13th! Camporee stations will include scenarios involving potential end-of-the-world disasters. Troops can arrive at camp any time after 6pm on Friday, or any time through Saturday as long as you’re there and checked in by 5pm on Saturday. Optional camp-wide activities will be held throughout the day on Saturday, you can take your units on a hike, or just hang out around your campsite. Check In opens at 12pm Saturday and closes sharply at 5pm Saturday. DOOMSDAY will start at the opening campfire at 8pm, with stations starting at 9pm. ? Stand By - More information to come on the station details as our scientists continue their research! ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? For more information contact Grant Richardson at grant.c.richardson@gmail.com or Mr Richardson at adrichardson@gmail.com ? WHY A NIGHT TIME CAMPOREE? There are several reasons supporting the idea of a "NIGHT Camporee". Reason #1 It is a fun and exciting departure from the "standard" Camporee format. This is especially important to those experienced Scouts that have been to other Camporees and would enjoy something new and different. Reason #2 To those Scouts involved in a busy weekend schedule of sports and other activities, it gives them the luxury of participating in those events and still complete a full experience at the NIGHT Camporee. They don't have to choose between Scouting and other pursuits. Reason #3 It avoids the hurried Friday night departure and travel/set up routine. For many units, it is a very hectic routine on Friday night. They can now leave Saturday morning at a more leisurely pace. (Although units can come out on Friday night if they choose, with the understanding no program will be offered until Saturday morning at 10am--until then, they provide their own program). Go for a hike! Work on advancement with your younger scouts. Sit around and relax for once! Reason #4 Under the cover of darkness, the environment takes on a mystery which creates a more exciting mood. The secrets of the night can be featured and appreciated. Things seem larger, farther away, and more intriguing at night. Reason #5 Ever tried pioneering or first aid in the dark? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
